Family - Coast Guard Pleasure Craft Operator Card Home Study & Test

For boaters interested in completing this certification, you may purchase the B.O.A.T. Study Guide from the Pender Harbour Community School office for studying prior to writing the test. The B.O.A.T. program and Guide provides the minimum knowledge required by Canadian Coast Guard to operate a small powered water craft. Call our office for testing dates and times, to purchase the Study Guide and register for the test.

Emergency Childcare First Aid

This 7 hour course is highly recommended for soon-to-be parents and people responsible for young children. Learn how to prevent emergencies and manage life threatening situations including choking, breathing and CPR emergencies, and accidents that can happen to kids.

Red Cross Babysitting

‘Because Caring For Children Is More than Just Child’s Play.’

If you plan to become a babysitter, or if you already are one and would like to learn more, this babysitting course was designed for you. Learn important childcare skills: how to cope with common problems, like tantrums and crying; some great games and other ideas for having fun while babysitting; how to find work; and more! This course will help you keep the children you care for safe and sound. Learn: Safety tips for children of all ages; how to deal with phone calls, doorbells, and strangers; what to do if anything makes you uncomfortable. This course will also help you handle emergencies with confidence by teaching you basic first aid skills for such common problems as: choking, sprains and strains, bleeding, poisons and burns.

Red Cross Standard First Aid

A comprehensive course covering all skills taught in an Emergency First Aid (time sensitive, life threatening priorities such as choking, rescue breathing, and CPR  for Adults, Children and Infants; how to treat severe bleeding and perform a secondary survey). Standard skills focus on musculoskeletal, soft tissue and head and spine injuries, heat and cold emergencies, poisonings, and medical conditions such as diabetic emergencies and seizures.

Red Cross Emergency First Aid

This program will teach participants how to handle and proceed with life threatening emergencies. How to be that very important first link in the chain of survival. Topics learned are how to recognize the signs and signals of life threatening incidents such as respiratory distress, heart attacks and bleeding. Participants will learn how to do a primary and secondary assessment, CPR skills, how to handle bleeding emergencies and all the new revisions to the program.
